Select XVI Showcase Teams


The Select XVI was create by the Force Academy to provide committed and talented student athletes additional opportunities ( beyond their individual teams ) to attend exclusive College Showcase events to showcase their talents in front of hundreds of US and Canadian Universities and Colleges.

Every year the Force Academy holds Select XVI ID Camp tryouts for players.
The ID camps will serve the means of identifying and selecting players for the Select XVI teams which will attend College Showcase Events and or International Development Trips.

Program will include both Girls and Boys Showcase teams.

Ages: (Double age bands )

  • U15 Boys & Girls Teams
  • U17 Boys & Girls Teams

All camps are held at the home of the OSU Force Academy, George Nelms Park

  • Players must be registered with the Force Academy full time
  • Players of Affiliated Force Academy Clubs
  • Guest players from Force Academy Partner clubs
  • Players must be registered as part of the Force Academy University Advisory Program 
  • Players must commit to a minimum of 2 showcase events per year.

 FAQs on the OSU Force Academy Select XVI Program

 I was selected for the Select XVI team. Now what?

Select XVI players will come together and train together in preparation for showcase tournaments for 2-3 weeks prior to their next showcase event. Training will be in addition to their regular team training events.

Upon, selection and acceptance to the Select XVI team players and parents must commit to the following:

  • Commit to additional Select XVI training as designed by the Force Academy Technical staff including fitness
  • Enroll in the University Advisory Program
  • Attend scholarship Seminars – How to get recruited
  • Develop a player recruiting profile
  • Develop a team recruiting flyer for each showcase event
  • Contact coaches pior to attending showcase events 

How many players will be selected for each Select XVI team?
Each team will carry between 15-16 players depending on the number of Goalkeepers

Who coaches the Select XVI teams?
Teams will be coached by OSU Force Academy staff coaches with a minimum of National B coaching licenses.
The Force Academy currently boast the best coaching staff in the province with seven ( 7 )  UEFA A & B and Canadian National B licensed coaches.

What showcase events will I be attending?  

·      We plan on at least 1 US event and two Canadian Events per year. This will provide an opportunity for plyers interested in both US and Cnadian schools.

Over the last 15 years OSU teams and players have attended and have been scouted at the most prestigious showcase events in North America such as;

Iber Cup USA - Dallas
Bethesda Premier Cup Boys and Girls - Maryland
Jefferson cup Boys and Girls - Virginia 
Umbro Rated Showcase Boys and Girls -  Toronto
Champions Showcase  Boys and Girls - Ottawa

 What are the costs involved?

 Tournament costs vary depending on the showcase event, but will usually be in the $300-$400 per player  
  range. Cost includes Tournament Registation Costs, coaches expenses, brochure printing , Univeristy
  Advisory Program, Showcase warm-up shirts and all facility costs for additional training and  preperation.

  Note: This cost does not cover airfare, accommodations and meals for players and parents.

Why should I be interested in this program?

·      Program is not for everyone. It is aimed at the committed and talented student athlete looking to maximize their opportunity to play in University or College.

·      The average cost of University tuition is $30,000 for US schools and $7,000 for Canadian Schools. Inverting in this program will better prepare you for success in obtaining a scholarship for a fraction of tuition costs.
